Police Launch Investigations into Equity Bank Attempted Robbery
The police in Soroti have launched investigations into a suspected robbery incident at equity bank Soroti branch. Early this morning, the police and UPDF officers sealed off the mains street as they conducted their investigations and also blocked the staff from entering into the bank.The report from police alleges that, the security guards who took care of the bank at the night of the incident, was arrested while the and other one was called on phone but said he was admitted to the hospital. However, police verified that It wasn’t true as they tried calling his phone which was not available.ASP Edison Obukulem the acting police spokesperson East Kyoga notes that, after the arrest of the two suspects whose names are not yet identified, this will help the police with further investigations.He informs the pubic that, the thieves were unsuccessful with the robbery to the intervention of the security team. Francis Erumu the branch manager equity bank Soroti clarifies that,nothing has been tampered with from the bank during an attempt of robbery.Edwin Beneza the Deputy Resident City commissioner Soroti city east division notes that the bank should have installed CCTV cameras behind the building hence this would eased the tracing of the thieves who attempted to break the bank. Beneza also blamed the UMEME for unstable electricity in the city with the incident happening at the time when power went off from the city last night. However, he finally thanks the community for being vigilant and cooperation with the security last night when the incident happened.
